Our Community

The Black Abolitionist Directive fully acknowledges that we live and operate on stolen Indigenous land, as African Descendants of Enslaved People. We are based on the occupied and unceded ancestral land of the Mohican, Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee) and Schaghticoke people. We give our deepest respect to the elders and community both past and present.

IThe Black Abolitionist Directive is based out of the Capital District of New York State, but we work with communities across the United States. We have worked in collaboration with organizers and families in Washington D.C, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Kentucky and California.

IT IS OUR FIRM BELIEF THAT NONE OF US ARE FREE UNTIL WE ARE ALL FREE.
The Black Abolitionist Directive stands in complete solidarity with oppressed people worldwide, and stands firmly against the genocides happening to Black and Brown people globally.
Our collective liberation is tied to one another, and it is one of our most important goals to dismantle global white supremacy, anti-Blackness, genocide and systemic oppression and fight back against the forces in place that seek to separate us from each other. We will fight to build bridges and work in tandem with global liberation efforts at every point, in total solidarity with freedom fighters worldwide.

Part of living our politics is caring for our communities. Covid-19 has not gone away, despite what the government has stated. The Black Abolitionist Directive still recognized Covid-19 as a threat to our communities, especially those most marginalized and/or immunocompromised. We ask that community members attending our events take full covid precautions, at minimum wearing a mask. We cannot turn a blind eye to disabled and immunocompromised people in our communities, and we cannot turn a blind eye to the damaging impact Covid-19 has on those most marginalized in our communities. The government will not care for us, but we MUST care for each other.
